Oracle APEX Developer – Job Description

Role Overview

An Oracle APEX Developer is responsible for developing scalable, secure, and high‐performance web applications using Oracle APEX. The role involves working closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions, leveraging Oracle Database technologies such as SQL and PL/SQL, and enhancing applications using web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy applications using Oracle APEX.
  • Analyse business and functional requirements and convert them into technical solutions
  • Write and optimize SQL and PL/SQL for data access, business logic, and reporting
  • Build interactive reports, dashboards, forms, and workflows using APEX components
  • Enhance user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and APEX themes/templates
  • Maintain and enhance existing APEX applications, including bug fixing and performance tuning.
  • Ensure application security, performance, and data integrity
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and application support artifacts
  • Collaborate with DBAs, business analysts, testers, and other developers

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience with Oracle APEX development
  • Proficiency in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
  • Understanding of Oracle Database architecture and relational data modeling
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and APEX UI components
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and system integrations (commonly expected)
  • Strong problem‐solving and debugging skills
  • Good communication skills to work with technical and non‐technical stakeholders
