SAP Data Architect

Role Overview

The role is responsible for designing, building & maintaining robust data architectures that integrate SAP and non-SAP systems to support enterprise-wide data management, analytics, and reporting needs. This role ensures seamless data flow, integrity, and accessibility across diverse platforms while aligning with business objectives and industry best practices.

They are responsible to work with wider Data and analytics team, such as Data product management, Data governance and collaborate with Solution architects on business requirements and helps design, model & maintain data solutions, covering enterprise data solutions – this includes working in SAP and non-SAP landscape in ingestion, transformation, modelling and creating and managing data products including reports and consumption of data products by consumers using API and other integration patterns

The role is expected to be hands on in design and build across SAP and NON-SAP data warehouses and facilitate data architecture work on consumption and usage of data.

Typical Responsibilities & Deliverables:

In this role, you will:

· Involved in requirement analysis and discovery

· Facilitate workshops with Data product managers and other stakeholders from IT towers and business stakeholders on data architecture and design High Level Architecture (HLA) & represent in design authority forums for the HLA & generate solution specifications to be handed over to the delivery team for build and maintenance

· Some of the activities covered as part of the solution design includes, hands on analysis in systems, conceptual and logical diagrams for entities or data architecture diagrams for data solutions. Driving solutions, working with data analysts in facilitating data discovery, profiling, modelling of data and integration solutions. Ensuring Data definitions are well understood and captured. Responsible for solution to meet good standards of data quality, performance& sustainable aligning to enterprise & data architecture principles.

· Perform Impact assessment and estimation with multiple solution options, based on cost, architecture and timelines. Represent solution in design authority, and handover to delivery team through functional specifications

· Expected to be hands-on in the system, for solution design and handing over specification to delivery teams covering– SAP AFS, S4 HANA, various master

data systems of records such as PLM, data warehousing systems such as SAP Datasphere (HANA, SAP BDC, SAP BW on HANA.

· Expected to design integration and data onboarding using ETL tools e.g SAP BODS, SAP CPI/BTP, 3rd party sources and apis, with good understanding of event and message-based integrations using Active MQ/ Kafka/ AWS kinesis etc, as well as batch processes of synchronous integration involving change pointers and delta refresh

· Designing reporting solutions with visualisation suite covering Tableau, PowerBI, SAP BOBJ, Bex, SAP analytics etc with good knowledge on some of those systems.

· Good to know: Modern cloud-based data lake houses such as Databricks

· Run/ Support RFP / software selection evaluation

Technical Skills

· 15+ years of experience with strong expertise as an SAP Data architect, including SAP S4 HANA and AFS, with coverage of several modules such as MM/SD/FICO, SAP CAR etc. Proven experience in extraction and modelling in SAP BW, SAP HANA/Datasphere/ BDC and building modelled reporting solutions

· Good working experience in integration of data via BODS/SAP CPI/ SLT & event/ message-based integration

· Understanding of microservices, REST/SOAP APIs

· Experience in reporting & visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAP BOBJ, Bex etc).

· Good to have: Knowledge and exposure in Databricks data architecture and data engineering using pyspark. Ability to navigate, troubleshoot and design data onboarding and support data architecture for data products in Databricks, for consumption of ML and visualisation

· Experience with conceptual and logical data modelling covering data entities or information architecture (e.g Lucid Diagrams or ERwin, PowerDesigner)

· Exposure to managing and maintaining meta-data and data architecture lineages with data catalog such as Alation/ Collibra/ Purview and DQ and observability platforms

· Expected to carry out core accountabilities with minimal level of supervision for complex tasks and no supervision for more routine matters, following delivery best practises with DPM and service managers.

· Ability to delegate delivery responsibilities while retaining oversight and accountability.

· Work closely with the delivery team for successful implementation and go live of the solution

· Continuously improve with Burberry governance frameworks, including logging and tracking tech-debt and actions and improve pain points around observability and maintenance of data architecture
