Senior Technical Architect – SAP & Enterprise (non-SAP) Applications

Role Summary

An experienced seasoned Senior Technical Architect with over 25+ years of SAP technical and functional expertise, to lead the architecture, design, transformation, modernization, and delivery of complex SAP and non-SAP enterprise solutions. This is a specialized role requiring deep SAP, non-SAP and integration expertise and significant oil and gas industry experience.

The role is responsible for defining strategic technology roadmaps, architecting business-critical solutions, managing large-scale upgrade and migration programs, leading technology transformation initiatives, and providing subject matter expertise across SAP, SAP Clean-core methodology, Technology transformation, AWS implementation , AWS designing and implementation, middleware, cloud, integration, non-SAP and enterprise application landscapes including oil and gas BCM applications and BCM process. Serve as the technical authority across multiple workstreams, ensuring scalable, secure, resilient, and future-ready solutions supporting critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture & Solution Design

· Define and govern enterprise-wide architecture standards, principles, and technology roadmaps.

· Design complex end-to-end IT solutions integrating SAP, non-SAP, cloud, middleware, and third-party platforms.

· Lead architecture reviews and provide technical assurance for mission-critical business systems.

· Develop future-state architectures aligned to business transformation objectives.

· Act as the primary technical authority for enterprise application and integration landscapes.

SAP Architecture Leadership

· Provide technical leadership across SAP platforms including:

o SAP HANA DBA, NetWeaver 7.5 Java, SAP PI/PO,SAP CPI, SAP BTP, SAP , Solution Manager, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA administrator, SAP Clean-core

o Oil and gas BCM applications and BCM process.

o AWS designing and implementation, AWS cost optimization

o Sybase ASE, Oracle and HANA DBA expertise

· Define architecture strategies for SAP upgrades, migrations, cloud adoption, and platform modernization.

· Lead SAP technical design activities across development, test, staging, and production environments.

· Establish integration standards, governance frameworks, and security controls.

SAP Functional & Business Process Expertise

Provide technical and solution guidance across key SAP business domains, including:

· Plant Maintenance (PM), Finance & Controlling (FICO), Human Capital Management (HCM), SuccessFactors (SF), Order-to-Cash (OTC), Enterprise Asset Management, Customer and Partner Connections, Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), Ariba Procurement, Procurement & Supply Chain Processes

Non-SAP Enterprise Application Architecture

Provide architecture leadership and technical oversight for:

· OpenText, SCADA Systems, DNCC BA, FRAS, Forecaster, GlobalScape, Remote Link, Technolog (DPRS), Field Service Management (FSM), MRPS

· Other operational technology and enterprise applications

· Sybase ASE, Oracle and HANA DBA

Integration, Cloud & Middleware Leadership

· Design and govern integration architectures across SAP and non-SAP applications.

· Lead middleware and API-driven integration strategies using:

o SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI, Workato, REST APIs, SOAP Services

o Event-driven integration frameworks

· Architect hybrid cloud solutions utilizing SAP BTP and enterprise cloud technologies.

· AWS designing and implementation, AWS cost optimization

· Ensure integration solutions meet availability, performance, scalability, and security requirements.

Technology Transformation & Modernization

· Lead large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives involving:

o SAP upgrades, SAP migrations, Datacentre transformations, Cloud migrations, SAP BTP adoption, OneApps / Mobile technology transformation, Platform modernization programs

o Legacy application transformations

o Oil and gas BCM applications and BCM process.

· Define transformation roadmaps and migration strategies that minimize business disruption.

· Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to support business objectives.

Project & Program Leadership

· Manage large, complex SAP and non-SAP technical projects from concept through delivery.

· Lead cross-functional teams comprising architects, project managers, consultants, developers, and infrastructure specialists.

· Provide executive-level reporting on risks, dependencies, architecture decisions, and delivery status.

· Ensure successful delivery of multi-million-pound technology initiatives within agreed scope, budget, and timelines.

Subject Matter Expertise

· Act as the primary SME across SAP and non-SAP application landscapes.

· Provide expert guidance on system performance, architecture optimization, security, integration, and operational resilience.

· Support incident resolution and complex problem management activities.

· Mentor architects, technical leads, and project teams.

Stakeholder & Governance Management

· Engage with executive leadership, business stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners.

· Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

· Present architecture strategies, design decisions, and investment recommendations to senior leadership and governance boards.

· 25+ years of seasoned SAP technical and functional SME with consulting SME level experience.

· Extensive Experience working within highly regulated Oil and Gas industries and business-critical environments.

· Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale SAP and non-SAP solutions.

· Proven track record managing large transformation, upgrade, and migration programs.
