Job Title - Unix Engineer

Location - London or Birmingham

Type of Role - Fixed term contract 1 Year

Mode of Working - 3 days onsite in a week

Role Summary

Design, test and certify Unix patching solutions and platform enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise Linux and UNIX environments.
• Perform OS installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and security hardening.
• Execute vulnerability remediation and compliance activities.
• Design, test, and certify operating system patches and platform enhancements.
• Troubleshoot OS-level issues involving CPU, memory, storage, networking, and file systems.
• Support infrastructure automation initiatives using Ansible, Puppet, and scripting tools.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards.
• Manage capacity planning, performance tuning, and system optimization.
• Work closely with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure platform stability and compliance.
• Support incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Participate in production support and critical issue resolution as a Level-3/Level-4 SME.
• Drive platform stability, security and compliance objectives.
• Execute patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation and validation activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, security and business stakeholders.
• Support governance, reporting, audit readiness and continuous improvement.
• Implement automation and operational best practices where applicable.
