The Position

The HRIS Specialist is responsible for managing and enhancing the organisation's People systems, including HR & Payroll, Learning & Development and Recruitment platforms. This role focuses on improving system functionality, streamlining processes, maintaining high-quality People data and delivering valuable insights to support business decision-making. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, the HRIS Specialist drives system adoption, continuous improvement and operational efficiency, ensuring People systems effectively support both colleagues and managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for People systems, including HR, Payroll, Learning & Development and Recruitment platforms, ensuring effective configuration, maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the delivery of system upgrades, enhancements and integrations, working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to maximise system value and performance.
  • Review, design and continuously improve People processes, identifying opportunities for automation, simplification and increased efficiency.
  • Collaborate with People, IT and Finance teams to optimise end-to-end workflows, system functionality and data flows.
  • Ensure the integrity, governance and security of People data, maintaining appropriate controls, documentation and audit trails.
  • Produce and analyse People metrics, workforce data and reporting to provide meaningful insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide expert user support, acting as the escalation point for system-related issues and driving user adoption through guidance, training and change management activities.
  • Ensure all People systems and processes comply with data protection, information security, regulatory and internal governance requirements.

About You

You are an experienced HRIS professional with strong expertise in HR, Payroll, ATS and Learning systems gained within a medium to large organisation, preferably in HR Shared Services or similar environment. You have a proven track record of improving processes, optimising systems, using data and reporting, and Power BI insights to drive better decision-making.

You are confident managing system upgrades and working with external vendors, while translating technical capabilities into practical, user-friendly solutions. With excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills as well as advanced MS Excel skills, you maintain high standards of data accuracy and compliance. You also have a solid understanding of UK and European employment legislation, GDPR and data protection requirements, and are keen to leverage and further develop the use of AI, Power BI and data analytics within People systems.
