Data Architect

HMRC's Data Discovery Team, part of the Chief Data Office are looking for 2 Data Architects to perform a detailed data / system / process impact evaluation of all the major strategic programmes / projects to ensure this expert data discovery capability is targeted at programmes / projects with the highest risk, impacts and value.

12 month day rate contract.

HMRC is improving the position of its technical health focusing on its most critical IT. There is a 5-year IT Roadmap of transformation programmes that support delivering HMRC's strategic objectives.

The Data Discovery team is a critical enabler of this transformation agenda, providing deep data management expertise to help projects and programmes collaborate more effectively, reducing duplication, and accelerating delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake and document a detailed data / system / process impact evaluation of all the major strategic HMRC programmes and projects.
  • Using structured discovery and collaboration methods produce processes and dataflows and input to metadata tooling so insights can be shared across programmes.
  • Identify and document metadata requirements alongside any duplication and reuse opportunities to feed into existing and future programmes / projects.
  • Work with Business Architects to identify and document enterprise level architecture issues for remediation.
  • Promote collaboration across programme and projects to ensure knowledge is shared and to reduce duplication.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in data discovery, ideally within large-scale public sector or enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of data management, data standards, and entity modelling.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
  • Strong communicator and able to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience using ABACUS, AXON and EDC.

Desirable

  • TOGAF or DAMA (for architecture and data management)
