VP Finance
VP Finance / Finance Director
Scaling SaaS Business | London, UK | Hybrid (3 days in-office)
£150,000 to £180,000 OTE | Equity Eligible | Exclusively via HMN Capital
The business
A scaling SaaS company based in London at a critical point in its growth. The business has operations across multiple international markets, a recently completed acquisition to integrate, and a full CEO mandate to professionalise and automate the finance function.
The current state of the finance function is honest. Financial reporting is Excel-based, there is no visibility on customer-level or product-level revenue data, contract renewal tracking is manual, and the Xero and HubSpot integrations are incomplete. The incoming VP Finance will be the first senior finance leader with complete ownership of this build.
The opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP Finance / Finance Director takes end-to-end ownership of the finance function from day one. This includes standing up SaaS-grade financial reporting, leading the FY27 budget cycle, driving systems automation, and serving as a trusted commercial partner to the wider leadership team.
The role carries genuine equity upside and clear influence as the business scales. A full handover from the outgoing finance lead is in place through September/October.
There is a July start target. August is a difficult month for executive recruitment, and the FY27 budget cycle cannot be owned by someone who is not yet in seat. Candidates who are available or within a short notice period should move quickly.
What you will do
Commercial finance and revenue intelligence
Build and maintain a dynamic SaaS forecasting model covering ARR, MRR, NRR, churn, CAC, and LTV. Develop a full revenue bridge and customer-level data model. Partner with Sales and the C-Suite on pipeline transparency, deal inspection, and contract renewal visibility.
Financial planning and reporting
Lead the FY27 budget and rolling 12 to 18 month forecast. Produce board-ready monthly reporting packs. Manage group consolidation across multiple entities and maintain compliance with UK GAAP and applicable international standards.
Finance function build and systems
Migrate the business from manual, spreadsheet-driven processes to scalable automated infrastructure. Implement and optimise Xero and HubSpot for financial operations. Identify and deploy AI-led automation across finance workflows.
Strategic partnership
Serve as a thought partner to the CEO on commercial strategy, board reporting, and capital allocation. Own the integration of the recently completed acquisition, covering accounting, consolidation, and reporting alignment across entities. This role requires someone who leads from conviction: who can influence the CEO and C-suite from a grounded position, not one who waits for direction and executes.
Tax, compliance and treasury
Oversee corporate tax, VAT, and regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions. Manage cash flow, banking relationships, intercompany funding, and FX exposure.
People and HR (near-term)
Design and implement company-wide compensation and incentive structures. Assume oversight of the HR function with a dedicated HR team member as a direct report.
What we are looking for
Essential requirements
- Demonstrable experience with SaaS financial metrics: ARR, MRR, NRR, churn, CAC, LTV
- Proven track record building a finance function in a founder-led or early-stage scaling business (£5M to £30M revenue range)
- Has built the finance function on lean resource, at pace: 12 to 18 months to stand up a solid operation from scratch is the benchmark
- Able to move between board-level strategy and granular financial detail on the same day, without being directed to
- UK-based with ability to commit to 3 days per week in London
- Fully qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (ACA strongly preferred)
Environmental fit: the primary filter
This business has previously hired senior finance leaders from large, structured corporate and enterprise environments. Those hires did not succeed here. The right candidate has operated in a lean, founder-led SaaS business where they were expected to build without external support, move between every level of the function without direction, and influence the leadership team from a position of conviction. If that environment is unfamiliar, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.
Strong differentiators
- Hands-on experience with Xero and/or HubSpot in a finance or revenue operations context
- M&A integration experience from an accounting and financial perspective
- Experience preparing a business for investment, scale-up, or future exit
- Background in SaaS, data services, or subscription analytics businesses
What is on offer
- £150,000 to £180,000 OTE (base salary and performance bonus)
- Employee equity participation scheme
- Hybrid working: 3 days London office, 2 days remote
- CEO-level mandate and full ownership from day one
- Formal handover from the outgoing finance lead, in place through September/October
- A business at an inflection point with the mandate to build something properly
