ICT Technical Services Apprentice
Horizon Specialist Academy Trust are looking for a enthusiastic and reliable individual to join their company to support the ICT team in delivering a safe, effective ICT and AV resource for use by students and staff. As well as to assist in providing the HSAT ICT support service in line with its educational objectives.
Role
Installation and Management of ICT Resources:
- Perform basic PC hardware repairs and upgrades
- Follow acceptance test procedures for new ICT equipment
- Maintain common hardware found in school; install applications and trouble-shoot basic problems
- Set up hardware and perform basic checking of networked PCs
- Perform routine tasks to maintain user accounts and permissions
- Maintain the Trust website by uploading pages and files
- Implement changes to hardware and applications, collate and interpret results of testing
- Assist with the purchase of equipment following Trust procedures
- Contribute to the maintenance of the ICT resource database
Supporting the Trust’s ICT service:
- Update records of installed hardware and software; maintain a software library and store original copies of installed applications
- Follow school backup, virus protection and security procedures
- Note risks to ICT systems and suggest precautions; follow extended maintenance procedures
- Respond to support requests according to Trust procedures, recording detailed diagnostic information and using appropriate knowledge bases/logs to inform diagnosis and resolution
- Work to the school’s support service definition and note problems in maintaining service levels; track external support calls
- Support staff and pupils in the use of ICT resources through direct interaction and by producing simple help sheets
- Respond to requests for setting up and removing AV equipment for lessons, meetings and presentations
- Maintain AV equipment in a safe, clean and serviceable condition, effecting simple repairs where necessary
Health & Safety Procedures:
- Carry out basic safety checks
- Follow relevant H&S procedures and raise awareness among staff, pupils and other users
Developing the Trusts’ ICT service:
- Attend and support staff training sessions, to increase personal understanding of how ICT is used in specific contexts
- Attend relevant courses and actively seek to broaden knowledge and skills relevant to responsibilities
- Read Trust policy documents, schemes of work and curriculum plans; attend relevant meetings
