IT Support Technician Apprentice
Role
- Provide first-line service desk support by responding to technical queries and resolving basic IT issues for staff and students
- Log and monitor IT faults through the school’s service management system, ensuring they are resolved promptly and efficiently
- Install, configure, and update software and hardware across the school’s IT infrastructure under guidance
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of IT equipment, including computers, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
- Support the administration and management of e-learning platforms and educational software used by students and staff
- Conduct basic repairs and troubleshooting on IT hardware and devices, escalating complex issues when necessary
- Ensure IT equipment and systems are well-maintained, secure, and functional to support teaching and learning
- Collaborate with staff and IT team members to identify IT needs and suggest practical solutions
- Maintain accurate records of IT issues, maintenance, and inventory to support operational effectiveness
- Communicate clearly and effectively with users, offering technical advice and support in a professional manner

This new Microsoft apprenticeship is part of QA's drive to support Microsoft’s Get On 2021 campaign, a five-year initiative to help 1.5 million people build careers in technology and help 300,000 connect to tech job opportunities.
QA’s Azure Cloud Support Specialist Level 3 apprenticeship programme enables the apprentice to:
- Learn on-premise and cloud-enabled technologies and services
- Learn technical content that aligns with and is relevant to employers and the market
- Gain an Azure Fundamentals Qualification and a Microsoft 365 Fundamentals qualification
- Get an introduction to Windows, Linux and PowerShell
Tools and technologies learned: Learners will learn to use Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows 10, AWS, Linux, PowerShell.
90% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
