The CTO Platforms organisation is responsible for the banks strategic application, API, AI, and data platforms, the developer experience and toolchain. Our opinionated platforms empower engineers every day by reducing toil, accelerating time to market, offering built-in controls and operational resilience across our public and private cloud venues.

As the Head of Reliability Engineering, you will lead a team dedicated to ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of HSBC's critical technology platforms. This leadership role involves establishing and directing our reliability engineering practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement systems that meet high reliability standards.

You will be responsible for driving initiatives that enhance system resilience, increase observability, automate processes, and proactively address potential issues to minimize operational disruptions.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Proven experience in reliability engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, design principles, and cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., python) for automation purposes.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., prometheus, grafana) and incident management systems.
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to learn and implement new technologies and tools as required.
