Finance Controller
Financial Controller Overview
Our client is a fast-growing, design-led product studio delivering enterprise AI solutions for ambitious technology businesses. As the company enters its next phase of growth, they are seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to build and own a scalable finance function.
This is a hands-on role with real influence across the business. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to provide accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and forward-looking insight that supports confident decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinance Function Ownership
- Bring the finance function fully in-house
- Design and implement scalable financial systems, processes, and controls
- Move from spreadsheet-led reporting to real-time financial visibility
Financial Operations
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow)
- Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping and oversee payroll
- Manage client invoicing, supplier invoices, approvals, and payments
- Maintain accurate records across expenses, subscriptions, cards, and overheads
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and year-end statutory filings
- Monitor performance against budgets
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cashflow
- Lead annual budgeting and regular reforecasting
- Maintain rolling cashflow forecasts
- Identify risks and opportunities and escalate issues early
Commercial Insight & Decision Support
- Provide variance analysis, scenario modelling, and performance reporting
- Support pricing, margin analysis, and profitability tracking
- Translate financial data into clear insight for non-financial stakeholders
Continuous Improvement
- Improve efficiency and accuracy of finance processes
- Reduce manual effort through better systems and automation
- Support the wider business in understanding and using financial data
- 4–6 years’ experience in finance or management accounting
- Background in a creative, product, technology, agency, or consultancy environment preferred
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Experience owning finance end-to-end
- Strong systems experience (QuickBooks or similar accounting software)
- Commercially aware with strong communication skills
- Comfortable operating in a scaling, fast-paced environment
