Skilled PCB Technician 

Location: Letchworth
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm & Friday 8:00am - 1:30pm
Basis: Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (DOE)

Our client, a well-established and growing electronics manufacturer based in Letchworth, is seeking an experienced Skilled PCB Technician to join their Operations team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technician with strong electronics assembly and testing experience who is looking to develop their career towards a future Production Engineering role. Working closely with both the Production and Engineering teams, you will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured and tested to the highest quality standards, while supporting continuous improvement and new product introduction activities. Initially, the role will focus heavily on mechanical assembly, electronic assembly and product testing, with increasing involvement in production documentation, process development and engineering support as the position evolves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electronic assembly of products to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Soldering and surface mount assembly.
  • Cable and wiring assembly.
  • Mechanical assembly of electronic systems and sub-assemblies.
  • PCB-level testing and complete system testing.
  • Conduct first-off inspections and support new product build and test activities.
  • Assist with design verification testing and product validation.
  • Support the creation and development of production documentation and assembly procedures in collaboration with the Engineering team.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and ensure products meet customer specifications.
  • Assist with calibration activities and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across production and engineering departments.
  • Work safely and adhere to company Health & Safety procedures at all times.

The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong soldering, wiring, cable assembly and electronic assembly skills.
  • Experience carrying out PCB and/or system-level testing.
  • Good mechanical assembly experience.
  • The ability to read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good computer literacy skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Desirable
  • J-STD-001 certification.
  • Experience supporting engineering teams with production documentation.
  • An interest in progressing into a Production Engineering career path.
