Azure Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Contract (Fixed Term) | 5 months | Derby, UK (Hybrid - 3 days/week in office) | £500/day | Active SC Clearance Required

We're recruiting for 2x Senior Azure Cloud Engineers to build and operate secure, scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure for one of the UK's leading aeroengine manufacturers, supporting Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and wider Digital & IT projects aimed at faster production and service turnaround. You'll work on complex development and migration of application projects to Azure, partnering with business analysts, application developers, architects, and data stakeholders to build secure, scalable Azure environments - with a strong focus on automation, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand requirements and design highly scalable Azure solutions, delivering end-to-end implementation alongside Azure architects
  • Build and implement environment setups in Azure cloud for application, data, and DevOps teams
  • Apply Docker, containers, and Kubernetes within development processes
  • Coordinate closely with Architects, App Developers, Data Engineers, and platform operations teams to resolve infrastructure-related issues
  • Implement Azure cloud resources with security features enabled
  • Own documentation, task tracking and prioritisation, and proactively flag potential blockers
  • Ensure the Azure cloud environment is implemented following best practices and in line with architecture governance and compliance rules

Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years' total experience, including 5+ years in Azure Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) for data-intensive solutions
  • Experience designing, implementing, and migrating data-intensive applications to Azure Cloud
  • Experience designing, configuring, and optimising Azure data services - Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Database, and Batch services
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot end-to-end data pipelines
  • Experience configuring App Gateway, IaaS, Azure AD, Firewall, and Networking in a PaaS context
  • Experience implementing SQL and NoSQL solutions in Azure Data platform
  • Experience migrating data from on-prem to cloud environments
  • Exposure to cybersecurity standards and cloud/resource control implementation to meet regulatory (RR) standards
  • Strong DevOps knowledge, including CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
  • Expert-level experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, PowerShell) to automate deployment via Azure DevOps
  • Experience designing/implementing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps using YAML pipelines and scripts, following best practice

Contract details

  • Location: Hybrid (Derby 2 days per week)
  • Duration: Initial 12 months
  • Daily rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35)
