Enterprise Architect
This is a high-impact, customer-facing role acting as a trusted advisor to a major public sector organisation, working closely with senior stakeholders to shape and deliver long-term technology strategy.
Often referred to in the market as an “Account CTO”, this role sits between engineering, architecture, and leadership — focused on understanding the customer’s challenges, identifying pinch points, and building a clear, strategic roadmap that aligns technology with business outcomes.
You’ll work directly with stakeholders including Head of Networks, senior leadership teams, and CIO-level contacts, helping guide decisions across a broad technology portfolio including networks, security, cloud, and collaboration.
This is ideal for someone who has moved beyond pure engineering and wants to operate as a trusted partner, influencing direction rather than just delivering solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Act as a strategic advisor to a key enterprise customer.
• Build and maintain technology roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
• Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities across the customer’s estate.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders including SLT and CIO-level leadership.
• Translate complex technical solutions into business-focused outcomes.
• Align internal capabilities and product offerings to customer needs.
• Support long-term planning across networking, security, cloud, and infrastructure.
• Contribute to architectural frameworks and governance (TOGAF-style environments).
• Build strong, long-term relationships as a trusted partner to the customer.
Technical & Solution Landscape:
Broad enterprise portfolio including:
• Secure networks (LAN / WAN)
• Data centre and infrastructure
• Telephony and voice
• Cyber security
• Customer experience (CX) solutions
Skills / Must Have:
• Strong background in networking and/or infrastructure architecture.
• Experience working in a customer-facing, strategic or consultancy role.
• Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Experience building technology roadmaps and long-term strategies.
• Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments and transformation.
• Ability to link technology solutions to real business challenges.
Nice to Have:
• Experience working within public sector or regulated environments.
• Exposure to TOGAF or enterprise architecture frameworks.
• Experience across multi-domain environments (network, security, cloud, voice).
Location & Working Pattern:
• Bristol or Exeter-based role
• 3 days per week in the office
Security Requirements:
• Must be able to obtain NPPV3 clearance.
