As a Hardware Management Engineer within the Research Infrastructure Engineering team, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, health, and maintenance of the firm's physical server infrastructure. This hands-on operational role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with enterprise server platforms and is eager to develop within a high-performance, engineering-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to hardware alerts and coordinate diagnosis, triage, and incident resolution
• Manage vendor support tickets, escalate issues appropriately, and ensure adherence to SLAs
• Plan and execute hardware replacements, component upgrades, and firmware updates
• Coordinate with data centre operations staff on deployments, cabling, and physical troubleshooting
• Maintain detailed asset records, including serial numbers, life cycle status, and service history
• Support capacity planning initiatives and infrastructure readiness activities
• Keep documentation up to date, including inventories, rack layouts, and operational processes

Required Experience

• Experience managing vendor relationships and support workflows (eg, RMAs)
• Exposure to Linux and Automation
• Familiarity with enterprise hardware from vendors such as HPE, Dell, Supermicro, or Lenovo
• Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus, VictoriaLogs, or Grafana
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for managing tickets and documentation
• Clear communication abilities for collaborating across engineering teams, vendors, and data centre personnel

Role Details

• Location: Victoria (5 days per week, onsite - mandatory)
• Rate: £600 per day
• Contract: 6 months
