Hamilton Barnes is seeking an experienced Informatica BDM Administrator to join a major enterprise client on a 6-month contract, supporting critical data infrastructure and platform operations. You'll be working in a complex, hybrid cloud environment using Informatica BDM, EDC, and IDL, ensuring stable, optimised, and scalable data services.
This hybrid role offers access to modern data technologies in a supportive, team-based engineering environment with responsibility for environment setup, platform support, and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out installation, configuration, and upgrades of Informatica BDM, EDC, and IDL across non-prod and prod environments.
- Support day-to-day platform administration, including service monitoring and environment health checks.
- Move components between environments and contribute to the automation of deployments.
- Use Sqoop to extract data from traditional databases into Hadoop environments, ensuring efficient ingestion.
- Run and optimise HiveQL scripts to benchmark and validate load performance against BDM jobs.
- Perform tuning of ETL jobs and code, identifying opportunities for performance optimisation.
- Configure cluster queue routing and assist with resource management to support data workloads.
- Build and maintain DEV, QA, PROD, and Disaster Recovery environments, ensuring operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and job-related issues, escalating to Informatica support as needed and helping minimise downtime.
- Support capacity planning and platform maintenance to ensure ongoing stability and performance.
What You'll Ideally Bring:
- Strong experience in Informatica BDM administration.
- Hands-on knowledge of BDM/EDC/IDL configuration and service management.
- Experience working with Sqoop, HiveQL, and Hadoop-based data environments.
- Familiarity with cluster queue management and big data platform tuning.
- Experience with environment automation and Scripting for deployment workflows.
- Comfortable working across hybrid cloud setups, especially with AWS technologies.
- Proven track record in troubleshooting and supporting large-scale data integration platforms.
- Clear communicator with a proactive, team-based mindset.
Contract Details:
- Duration: 6 months (Potential to Extend)
- Location: Hybrid (Norwich)
- Daily Rate: Up to £500 Per Day (Inside IR35)
