Network Security Operations Engineer - 6-Month Contract - Manchester (Hybrid) - Inside IR35
We are looking for an experienced Network Security Operations Engineer to support and manage enterprise network security operations, including Firewall requests, security incidents, policy exceptions, and compliance activities. In this role, you'll ensure Firewall and network security controls are managed effectively within ITIL-aligned processes, while meeting audit and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise network security environments, managing security incidents related to Firewalls and access controls
- Review, assess, and process Firewall requests in line with security policies, handling policy exceptions with appropriate risk assessment and approvals
- Support Firewall compliance management, governance processes, and audit activities, maintaining accurate documentation for requests, exceptions, and audit evidence
- Ensure Firewall changes are managed through proper change control, working within ITIL-aligned Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Management processes
- Coordinate with security, network, application, compliance, and service management teams, supporting risk reduction by identifying non-compliant or outdated Firewall rules
What You Will Ideally Bring
- Strong experience in enterprise network security operations support and Firewall request/policy administration
- Solid understanding of Firewall compliance, governance, and policy exception management
- Strong grounding in ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Management
- Experience working in regulated organisations, with strong documentation and audit support skills
- Desirable, exposure to AlgoSec, Zero Trust/SASE/SSE technologies, and certifications such as CISSP, PCNSE, or CCNP Security
