Power & Electrical Engineer - Contract - North of England (Home Based)

We are seeking an experienced Power & Electrical Engineer to carry out electrical testing, remedial actions and minor installation works across a range of telecommunications sites within the UK.

The role covers EICR testing, reactive and remedial electrical maintenance, and small installation/upgrade works as part of network improvements. The successful candidate will also provide electrical support and guidance to the wider Field Services engineering team as required.

This is a hands-on, home-based role requiring a qualified electrician background with test & inspection accreditation, and the confidence to work independently across a national site portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out Electrical EICR testing and documentation from a planned schedule at telecommunications sites.
  • Carry out reactive and remedial electrical maintenance identified through planned activities or the reporting system.
  • Carry out small electrical installations or upgrades as part of network improvements (small works).
  • Conduct operational and safety audits at designated sites as required.
  • Facilitate access for, and manage on site, specialist electrical contractors.
  • Complete accurate on-site records and documentation.
  • Carry out PAT testing at designated locations, plus ad hoc testing for field teams.
  • Deliver monthly reporting of electrical activities to the Governance Manager.
  • Manage spend on company credit for maintenance consumables/goods/equipment, with monthly reporting.
  • Self-manage and efficiently plan own workload.
  • Attend training and continue developing relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Travel to sites across the UK as required, including occasional overnight stays.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualified electrician.
  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) Test & Inspection qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Eligible for security clearance.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Strong IT literacy.
  • Experience supervising maintenance contractors.
  • Experience working alone with minimal supervision.

Desirable Skills:

  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) PAT testing qualification.
  • IOSH (or similar) Health & Safety qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • Knowledge of fire and intruder alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of UPS systems, standby generators and BMS.
  • Experience carrying out minor building fabric repairs.

  • Day Rate: £200 - £300
