Role Overview

A Data Security & Cloud Engineer is responsible for protecting sensitive data across the organisation by implementing Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) capabilities, including data discovery, classification, and monitoring across structured and unstructured environments. They play a key role in ensuring data is securely managed across cloud and on-premises platforms, with strong controls around access, governance, and compliance.

The role combines hands-on engineering with data security and regulatory responsibilities, including Kubernetes-based deployments, automation, and alignment with data protection standards such as GDPR. Working closely with security, cloud, and engineering teams, they ensure data security controls are scalable, automated, and Embedded into modern platforms and workflows, while continuously improving visibility, compliance, and risk management across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Discovery & Classification (DSPM)
  • Perform structured and unstructured data discovery, classification, and scanning across databases, data lakes, and file systems to support Data Security Posture Management (DSPM).
  • Data Protection & Compliance Implementation
  • Implement and maintain data privacy controls aligned with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, ensuring sensitive data is properly governed and protected.
  • Containerised Application Deployment
  • Deploy, manage, and secure applications using Kubernetes and Helm, ensuring reliable and scalable cloud-native environments.
  • Automation & CI/CD Integration
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and integrate CI/CD pipelines to streamline data security operations and improve efficiency.
  • Data Security Monitoring & Risk Management
  • Support ongoing monitoring of data security posture, including access governance, risk identification, and remediation across cloud and on-prem environments.

What You Will Ideally Bring:

  • Data Security Posture Management (DSPM)
  • Strong experience in sensitive data discovery, classification, and scanning across structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Kubernetes & Container Orchestration
  • Hands-on expertise in deploying and managing containerised applications using Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Data Privacy & Regulatory Compliance
  • Solid understanding of GDPR and data protection principles, including data governance and compliance controls.
  • Automation & Scripting
  • Proficiency in Scripting and building automated workflows within CI/CD pipelines to support security operations.
  • Cloud & Data Security Risk Management
  • Experience in securing data across cloud and on-prem environments, including access control, monitoring, and risk mitigation.
