Senior DataOps Engineer - £425 per day - Onsite in Reading

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps/DataOps Engineer to support and optimise a large-scale Azure data platform, with Azure Databricks, Terraform and Azure DevOps YAML pipelines at its core. This is a Full time onsite role (5 days per week) based in Reading, working within a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver and support an enterprise-grade Azure data platform with a strong focus on automation and reliability.
• Manage Azure Databricks environments including clusters, workflows, repos, Delta Lake and Unity Catalog administration.
• Build, enhance, and maintain Azure DevOps YAML pipelines across multiple environments.
• Implement and maintain Terraform modules for Databricks, networking, storage, identities, private endpoints and related Azure infrastructure.
• Develop automation scripts and tooling using Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Design and implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions across data workloads and Databricks pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, architects and business stakeholders to drive platform improvements.
• Apply FinOps practices to optimise Databricks and Azure cloud spend.

Required Experience

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer or DataOps Engineer in Azure environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks (clusters, workflows, repos, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, workspace admin).
• Strong experience creating Azure DevOps YAML pipelines (CI/CD, branching strategies, testing & promotion).
• Expert-level proficiency with Terraform for Azure resource provisioning.
• Solid understanding of Azure services such as ADLS, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, networking and identity.
• Proficient Scripting skills (Python, Bash or PowerShell).
• Strong communication and documentation experience, working with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with monitoring, observability and cost optimisation in cloud data platforms.

• Location: Reading (5 days per week onsite - mandatory)
• Rate: £425 per day
• Contract: 6 months
