Senior Network Engineer

This is a high-impact engineering role within a globally recognised financial services environment, focused on delivering a large-scale Data Centre Transformation programme.

You’ll join a core network team responsible for modernising critical infrastructure following a major separation programme, giving you exposure to end-to-end network ownership across design, build, migration, and production rollout.

The team operates in a hands-on, engineering-led environment, where you’ll work across complex enterprise networks, contribute to key transformation initiatives, and play a direct role in shaping the future state of the organisation’s infrastructure.

This is ideal for someone who wants to move beyond BAU and be part of meaningful, business-critical change, with strong visibility and ownership.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and implement enterprise network solutions

• Deliver across a major data centre transformation programme

• Support network migrations, optimisation, and traffic engineering

• Decommission legacy infrastructure and consolidate services

• Configure and manage routing, switching, and firewall technologies

• Own network performance, stability, and continuous improvement

• Produce technical documentation including runbooks and handovers

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across infrastructure and operations

• Support planned migration activities (including occasional weekend work)

Technical Environment:

• Cisco Data Centre networking technologies

• Enterprise routing and switching

• Fortinet / FortiGate firewalls

• Multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper)

• Large-scale enterprise network infrastructure

• Data centre environments and migrations

Skills / Must Have:

• Strong experience with Cisco Data Centre technologies

• Solid Routing & Switching expertise (CCNP level or equivalent)

• Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot enterprise-grade networks

• Hands-on experience with Fortinet / FortiGate firewalls

• Strong understanding of network security principles

• Ability to operate both independently and within a team

• Experience working in complex, large-scale environments

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Juniper networking technologies

• Exposure to Palo Alto firewalls

• Background in financial services or regulated environments

Working Pattern:

• London – Hybrid working

• 3 days onsite (likely reducing to 1–2 days)

• Occasional data centre visits

Salary

• Up to £70,000 base salary DOE
