Role Overview

An experienced Splunk Administrator within a large financial services environment. The position is responsible for the day-to-day administration, optimisation, and production support of the Splunk platform - including Splunk Cloud and ITSI - ensuring platform reliability, performance, and compliance across a complex, enterprise-scale environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer the Splunk platform including Splunk Cloud and ITSI, managing data ingestion, indexing, parsing, and search performance optimisation.
  • Provide production support across incident, problem, and change management activities, troubleshooting complex Splunk and infrastructure issues through to root cause analysis.
  • Support platform upgrades, migrations, integrations, and onboarding of new workloads, collaborating with engineering and DevOps teams to improve monitoring and observability.
  • Monitor and develop dashboards, reports, alerts, and use cases using SPL, ensuring platform operations comply with security, compliance, audit, and governance requirements.
  • Drive automation and simplification of operational processes, contributing to service improvement initiatives focused on reliability, resilience, scalability, and cost optimisation.

Top 5 Skills

  • Splunk administration expertise - Strong hands-on experience administering Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud at enterprise scale, including data onboarding, parsing, transformation, and performance tuning; Splunk certification is a strong advantage.
  • Monitoring & observability - Proven experience with monitoring, logging, and observability solutions across infrastructure and application environments, including SPL-based dashboards, alerts, and use cases.
  • Splunk architecture knowledge - Understanding of Splunk distributed architecture, clustering, index management, and licence management, ideally with exposure to Splunk Enterprise Security and ITSI.
  • Linux & infrastructure operations - Solid understanding of Linux platforms, infrastructure concepts, and operational support requirements within enterprise-scale distributed environments.
  • Automation & Scripting - Exposure to automation or Scripting using Python, Shell, or PowerShell, with good documentation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Contract Details:

  • Rate: £400 per day Inside IR35
  • Location: Hybrid (2x a week) in Manchester
  • Contract Length: 12 - Month Initial Contract
