Job summary

Are you interested in a telephony leadership post working for the largest Mental Health and Community Services Trust on the South Coast? Can you work with dedicated employees to deliver a telephony system and to take the trust into the next generation of voice connectivity?

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare is looking to recruit an experienced telephony manager to work within the network and telecoms team to deliver the next generation voice service to the trust.

You will be responsible for overseeing the existing Cisco telephony service and tasked with managing and contributing to the next generation voice connectivity as the trust embarks on a new direction in 2026. Demonstrable experience of both Cisco UCM and Teams Telephony is essential, whilst awareness of other service suppliers and the NHS National Shared Tenant a distinct advantage.

This role combines technical expertise with leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement to support seamless communication across the organization. You must therefore be able to articulate advantages in the different voice technologies whilst considering the impact that AI will have on such technologies.

Main duties of the job

You will provide full end to end Telephony Management through support of the Trusts telephony systems, ensuring security, compliance, and functionality. You will manage incidents, monitor performance and identify areas for improvement

Your leadership skills will provide direction, support and development opportunities to the team whilst ensuring the voice service evolves with the future direction of the Trust

Through service improvements you will actively help drive the direction of change in 2026 and beyond, innovate where appropriate and remain open to the impact AI and automation can have on voice technology

Stakeholder Engagement will ensure you work closely with all sectors of the organisation to understand their needs and then through collaboration with other Digital teams, ensure seamless voice integration throughout.

Communicate complex technical issues and solutions to a wide range of stakeholders, including digital colleagues, senior management, clinical staff and external partners.

You will manage relationships with external Vendor and Suppliers, ensuring value for money and that service level agreements are met.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of telephony systems, configurations, and processes whilst providing regular reports on all telephony matter

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant telecommunications experience
  • Detailed specialist knowledge and understanding of voice telecommunication systems
  • Evidence of continuing professional development pertaining to the post
Desirable
  • ITIL Foundation Qualification
  • Membership of Professional Engineering Institution
  • Comprehensive knowledge of telecommunications industry
