Head of FinOps Consumer Tech Scale Up Soho

Head of FinOps | Consumer Tech Scale Up | Soho

The Client

Harmonic are proud to be working with one of the UK's most exciting consumer technology scale-ups, backed by leading VC investors and growing at 30% MoM, with plans to expand into Europe which will fuel their current growth.

Their platform is redefining how consumers interact with finance, combining intuitive design, powerful automation, and data-driven personalisation. With millions of transactions processed each month, they are now building a world-class financial infrastructure to support global expansion.

To help deliver this, they are hiring a Head of FinOps, a builder who can bridge Finance, Product, and Engineering to design the systems and workflows that power a seamless customer experience.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be responsible for building the FinOps function from the ground up, creating the processes and systems that ensure money, data, and reporting flow smoothly across the business.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives on collaboration, loves solving complex operational problems, and enjoys blending finance with product thinking. You'll partner closely with engineers and product teams to create scalable, automated processes that keep pace with rapid growth and evolving consumer needs.

This is the first step in a new era of CFOs. You won't learn to just wear the traditional hats of Finance, Operations, IT, HR and Strategy, you'll also own the product flow itself and how it integrates with finance. You'll sit at the heart of how the business scales, turning financial data and product logic into one connected system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build the FinOps infrastructure, automating the flow of funds and data across billing, payments, and customer interactions.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to embed finance logic directly into product features, ensuring real-time reconciliation, reporting, and customer visibility.
  • Develop data pipelines and performance dashboards, providing clarity on transaction flows, gross margin, CAC, and retention metrics.
  • Lead system implementations across payments, ERP, and BI tools (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, NetSuite, BigQuery, or internal APIs).
  • Establish and maintain robust financial controls, balancing accuracy with scalability.
  • Use automation and machine learning to optimise reconciliation, fraud detection, and working capital forecasting.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on unit economics, pricing models, and investor reporting, translating financial data into strategic insight.
  • Own ad-hoc projects to improve consumer payment experience, speed, and reliability.

About You

You're someone who sits at the intersection of finance, product, and technology, as fluent in SQL as you are in the P&L. You understand that in a consumer business, finance isn't just about control, it's about creating systems that scale, automate, and empower smarter decisions.

  • You have an intuitive understanding of how finance feeds into product in D2C, consumer-tech, or marketplace settings, and you enjoy designing workflows that make both customer and business experiences smoother.
  • You probably "vibe code" in your spare time - whether that's Python, SQL, or automation tools - and know how to leverage data to build cleaner, faster, and more accurate financial processes.
  • You're as comfortable sitting with the CTO to map out data flows as you are discussing forecasts and controls with the CFO.
  • You've helped scale high-growth tech or fintech environments where transaction volume, speed, and precision matter.
  • You're naturally curious, hands-on, and thrive in ambiguity, a builder who enjoys turning messy problems into elegant systems.
  • Experience implementing or optimising tools such as Stripe, Adyen, NetSuite, Looker, or BigQuery is highly advantageous.
  • A qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience in FinOps, product finance, or finance systems.
