Interim Finance Director | Rapid Growth Tech Consultancy | Remote First (UK)

The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a remote-first, technology-led Consultancy business that has scaled quickly by building its own technology, with genuine ambitions to be AI-native in the way it operates. The business is investing in and professionalising its finance function for the next stage of its growth, and needs an experienced interim finance leader to hold the reins while that build takes shape.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and working alongside the interim CFO, the Interim Finance Director will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the group finance function through a period of transition. You will lead a small finance team (a financial controller and a finance assistant), own management reporting, cashflow and financial control, and act as a senior finance partner to the founder. This is a hands-on and strategic interim role; the immediate priority is a clean handover from the outgoing interim FD and keeping the function running smoothly and to a high standard at pace, providing stability and senior finance leadership through the transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the day-to-day running of the group finance function.
• Own timely, accurate management reporting, including the monthly close, P&L, balance sheet and cashflow.
• Lead and support a small finance team, setting clear standards, priorities and ways of working.
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls, processes and governance as the function professionalises.
• Own cashflow forecasting and reporting, giving the leadership team clear short and medium-term visibility.
• Oversee statutory reporting and the group audit, working with advisers and the technical team to keep it on track.
• Act as a senior finance partner to the CEO, providing clear numbers, insight and challenge to support decision-making.
• Work alongside the interim CFO on wider finance priorities and ensure continuity through the transition.

Essential Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent), operating at Finance Director level.
• Proven experience running a finance function day to day, ideally in an interim or portfolio capacity.
• Track record in fast-growing, technology-led or professional services businesses.
• Strong across management reporting, cashflow, financial control and statutory reporting or audit.
• Comfortable being hands-on while partnering senior leadership, and able to get up to speed quickly at pace.
• Available immediately or at short notice, and happy working fully remotely.

Desirable Experience

• Experience of a professional services or consulting business model, including engagement economics and utilisation.
• Exposure to high-growth or technology-led environments.
• Experience providing finance leadership through a period of change or a first group audit.
• Prior interim assignments delivered end to end.

Day Rate: £600-£725 per day

Location: Fully remote (UK), with occasional travel for key team meetings

Duration: 6-month interim contract
