I'm currently representing my client on a newly created Chief Data Officer position, offering the opportunity to build and lead a modern data capability from the ground up.

The Role:

• Own and execute the overall Data & AI strategy.
• Define the data architecture, tooling and delivery approach.
• Build a modern data platform and engineering capability from scratch.
• Establish and lead a lean, high-performing data team.
• Drive the use of data across analytics, customer journeys and predictive modelling.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI and agentic technologies to accelerate delivery.
• Own execution, communicating progress, risks and key decisions to senior leadership.

Requirements:

• Strong background across data engineering, BI and analytics.
• Proven experience building data capabilities from the ground up.
• Strong technical judgement and understanding of modern data architecture.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing data teams.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to make pragmatic technology decisions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

• Experience delivering within a lean, cost-conscious environment.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI tooling, Microsoft Foundry or agentic engineering.
• Experience establishing a modern data platform from scratch.
• A track record of turning data strategy into measurable business outcomes.
• The ability to simplify complex technical challenges and drive delivery at pace.
