This is an opportunity to step into a commercially focused analytics role sitting at the heart of Finance. You will work across multiple finance domains, using SQL and Python to turn complex datasets into clear, actionable insight, while gaining exposure to modern data platforms as the environment continues to evolve.

They are a well-established retail organisation with a strong focus on data-driven decision making across Finance and Operations. Analytics plays a key role in supporting core business functions, and the team is investing in modernising its data architecture and improving self-service capability. You will join a collaborative environment where analysts, engineers and finance stakeholders work closely together. There is a clear appetite for automation, innovation and continuous improvement.
The Role
You will work closely with Finance teams and SQL engineers to deliver analytics and reporting across key finance areas, including Accounts Payable, Cash Accounting, Commercial Services and Operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing SQL-based data exploration, validation and transformation to support finance analytics.
- Using Python, including Pandas and Numpy, for deeper analysis, automation, data profiling and insight generation.
- Building and maintaining Power BI dashboards where required, with a lighter emphasis than a dedicated Power BI developer role.
- Investigating trends, drivers and anomalies to support ad hoc and BAU analysis requests.
- Engaging with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into clear analytical outputs.
- Supporting the development of self-service analytics to reduce reliance on ad hoc queries.
- Contributing to initiatives around modern data architecture, including increased exposure to Databricks as the platform matures.
Your Skills and Experience
- Strong SQL capability, including complex querying, joins, CTEs, window functions and data profiling.
- Solid Python experience for data analysis and automation, with Pandas and Numpy essential.
- Some experience with Power BI, without the need for DAX-heavy modelling.
- A strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data, generate insight and explain findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn, Databricks and modern data platforms.
- Confident communication skills and experience working with finance or commercial stakeholders.
- An understanding of data structures, even where ETL ownership sits with engineering teams.
