THE ROLE
As a Data Engineer, you will build scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, SQL, and Power BI, helping drive data-led decision making across the business.
Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following:
- Design, build, test, and maintain data pipelines to move data from multiple sources into a central data warehouse.
- Develop and maintain data models using modern cloud data technologies.
- Transform and structure raw data into curated datasets that support business intelligence and reporting.
- Apply data warehousing best practices to improve data accessibility, quality, and performance.
- Create trusted datasets, measures, and KPIs to support reporting and operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
- Support documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the data function.
- Contribute to data governance, data quality, and optimisation initiatives.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Data Engineer will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong commercial experience with SQL and data modelling.
- Experience designing and managing ETL or ELT processes.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Factory and Snowflake.
- Experience working with Power BI and an understanding of DAX and Power Query.
- Understanding of data quality, governance, and performance optimisation.
- Exposure to collaboration and development tools such as GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, adaptable approach to delivery.
