Data Engineering Manager
Role: Data Engineering Manager Location: Brighton (Hybrid - 1 day per week in-office)Salary: £90,000
An innovative, product-led tech company is hiring a Data Engineering Manager to lead a growing data function at the centre of a cutting-edge AI transformation. You'll be managing a team of three Engineers, working on a new intelligent recommendation engine that's set to redefine the online customer journey across telecoms - and beyond.
With recent investment and a new AI product now live with major global clients, this is a unique opportunity to join during an exciting scale-up phase and have real influence on architecture, systems, and product evolution.
Key Responsibilities:

Line manage and mentor a team of 3 Data Engineers

Own and support delivery across both legacy and new AI-driven products

Collaborate with Data Science, Engineering, and Product teams to build real-time data pipelines and infrastructure

Be hands-on when needed: supporting with code, architecture, and stakeholder requirements

Help shape and scale a modern data stack, and act as a technical coach within the team
What You'll Be Working On:

Building and supporting "Humara" - an intelligent, AI-driven virtual sales advisor that enables more human-like customer interactions on partner websites

Enhancing real-time data capabilities to better understand and predict user behaviour

Supporting a data function embedded within the tech team - directly influencing architecture and systems decisions
Tech Environment:

AWS, Snowflake, Python, Airflow

Docker, Fivetran, Looker

Real-time streaming technologies are a bonus
What We're Looking For:

Proven experience managing or mentoring Engineers (either as a Lead or in a formal management role)

Hands-on technical background in data engineering

Comfortable working in fast-paced, product-led environments

Real-time data experience or strong interest in streaming technologies

Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement

Open to industry background - experience with user-facing or intelligent products is a bonus

Technical task + walkthrough interview

Culture & competency-based interview

Final interview with CTO to discuss vision and future plans
