The business is investing in modern data capabilities to support better decision making, regulatory compliance, and scalable data products. Their data team is evolving quickly, with a clear roadmap and senior leadership support.
The Role
You will join a central data team and take ownership of day to day data governance and compliance activities while contributing to longer term strategy.
- Lead the implementation of a new data governance platform, evaluating tools such as Collibra or Informatica
- Design and embed data governance frameworks, standards, and policies across the organisation
- Develop and manage data ownership models and stewardship responsibilities
- Define and introduce data contracts to improve data quality and accountability
- Lead data lineage initiatives, mapping data flows from source systems through to reporting layers
- Support data compliance activities, including GDPR requests and data retention policies
- Assess and improve data governance maturity against recognised frameworks
- Engage with stakeholders across technical and business teams to drive adoption and cultural change
- Contribute to the development of data products and governance best practices
Your Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience in data governance within a complex environment
- Demonstrated expertise in data lineage and data flow mapping
- Experience working with data governance tools and leading or supporting implementations
- Solid understanding of data compliance and GDPR requirements
- Experience building or embedding governance frameworks and ownership models
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption across business and technology teams
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of key initiatives
- Exposure to data contracts or similar modern data management concepts is advantageous
