We are seeking a Data Manager (contract) to take ownership of data governance and drive data literacy across the organisation. This is a hands-on role suited to an all-rounder who can operate end-to-end and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Split of focus (approx.):

50% Data Literacy (training, enablement, adoption)
-
50% Data Stewardship / Governance / Data Integrity (standards, quality, ownership)
You will also provide structure and direction, including helping to prioritise work and guiding what another contractor should deliver.
Key responsibilitiesData governance / stewardship / integrity

Take ownership of governance fundamentals: standards, definitions, ownership, stewardship

Improve data integrity and quality practices (controls, checks, issue management, escalation routes)

Assess what is already in place and introduce pragmatic improvements
Data literacy (training and enablement)

Create and deliver data literacy training (e.g., workshops, presentations, playbooks)

Develop reusable enablement materials, including scripts/storyboards for short internal videos where required

Improve consistency of data usage by partnering with business teams and embedding good practices

Proven experience owning data governance and/or data stewardship in a delivery-focused environment

Strong evidence of data literacy work: you have created and delivered training (sessions, decks, guidance, internal comms, videos)

Comfortable working in a small data team where you need to be hands-on and pragmatic

Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence without heavy process

Delivery mindset: able to assess prioritise implement embed improvements
