Digital Analytics Manager (Contract) Berkshire - 1 day per week in the office Retail £400-£500 per day (outside IR35)
Our retail client is seeking an experienced Digital Analytics Manager to lead their analytics function during a key period of transformation. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep hands-on technical capability - particularly in GA4 and SQL - with strong leadership experience. You'll oversee a team of up to five analysts and play a crucial role in optimising the digital customer experience across web, product, and omnichannel journeys, including checkout funnels, click-and-collect flows, and on-site behaviour analysis.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of up to five digital/product analysts, ensuring high-quality delivery and capability uplift.
- Own end-to-end digital analytics strategy across web and product experiences
- Drive actionable insights using GA4 to understand customer behaviour, conversion paths, and onsite performance
- Use SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyse data from various platforms and databases
- Monitor and improve customer journeys including checkout, click-and-collect, product discovery, and wider digital touchpoints
- Partner closely with product, UX, eCommerce, trading, and engineering teams to prioritise and deliver data-driven improvements
- Translate complex data into clear recommendations that support commercial and digital KPIs
- Ensure robust tagging, tracking, and measurement frameworks are in place across digital properties
- Present insights and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making at pace
Skills & Experience
- Mandatory retail sector experience - strong understanding of retail digital journeys, trading cycles, and eCommerce performance drivers
- Proven experience as a Digital Analytics Manager
- Hands-on expertise with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including event configuration, exploration reporting, funnels, and attribution
- Strong SQL skills for deep-dive analysis and dataset creation
- Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and develop analyst teams (up to 5 people)
- Experience analysing onsite behaviour, customer journeys, web/product performance, and checkout optimisation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complexity for non-technical audiences
- Strong stakeholder management - comfortable influencing senior leaders in fast-paced retail environments
- Knowledge of tag management, experimentation, or CRO tools is a bonus
