UK / Europe | Remote First | Up to £100-150k

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically strong data leader to shape a growing Data Research function. You will combine hands-on statistical expertise with research strategy, people leadership and commercial decision-making.

The Company

They are a growing data and technology business providing sophisticated data products to investment organisations. Following significant investment, they are continuing to scale their technology and research capabilities. Data is fundamental to their product, with teams exploring first-party, third-party and alternative datasets to generate commercially valuable insights.

The Role

• Define and drive the Data Research strategy alongside senior technology and business stakeholders.
• Lead complex, open-ended research projects from hypothesis through to evidenced recommendations.
• Improve how new datasets are evaluated for quality, value and commercial potential.
• Develop stronger statistical, modelling and technical standards across the function.
• Lead, hire and develop a growing technical Data Research team.
• Evaluate the cost and value of new data sources to support purchasing decisions.
• Explore how AI can improve the speed and quality of data research workflows.

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience across data science, statistics or quantitative research.
• Deep technical expertise in statistical analysis, data modelling and messy real-world datasets.
• Strong Python and SQL capabilities.
• Experience defining hypotheses and leading complex research projects.
• Proven leadership of technical data or research teams.
• Strong commercial judgement and senior stakeholder management skills.
• Financial, alternative data or investment research experience is advantageous.
