The Role

• Define and lead the organisation's data research strategy in partnership with senior leadership.
• Drive the discovery, assessment, and development of new data products and KPI tracking methodologies.
• Lead complex research initiatives from hypothesis generation through to evidence-based recommendations.
• Evaluate diverse structured and unstructured datasets to identify commercial opportunities.
• Establish and maintain high standards for data evaluation, statistical analysis, and technical excellence.
• Improve processes to increase the speed and accuracy of data source assessments.
• Partner with data acquisition teams to support data purchasing and investment decisions.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of highly skilled data professionals.
• Build a scalable research function that supports long-term business objectives.
• Promote the effective use of AI and automation to enhance research quality and efficiency.

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience leading data science, data research, analytics, or statistical research teams.
• Deep expertise in statistical analysis, data modelling, and working with complex real-world datasets.
• Advanced Python and SQL skills with the ability to review and challenge technical work.
• Experience designing and leading open-ended research programmes from concept to delivery.
• Proven ability to develop technical standards and improve team performance.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences.
• Experience balancing technical decision-making with commercial objectives.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments.
• Exposure to alternative data, financial data, market intelligence, or investment research is advantageous.
• Experience applying AI tools to research, analytics, or data quality workflows is beneficial.
