A well-established, independently-owned UK wealth management firm is looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to oversee and drive the design, development, and delivery of critical software systems. This hands-on leadership role offers the chance to guide a talented backend team while shaping the future of their technology platform.

You'll lead a team of three developers (senior, mid, and junior), focusing on technical mentorship, architecture, and coding standards, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions that align with business goals. The role involves collaborating closely with product, QA, and project teams to deliver high-quality software in a cross-functional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead backend development, code reviews, and system integration

• Mentor and support developers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture

• Architect scalable, efficient backend systems with strong performance and reliability

• Manage full software lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and drive innovation in platform design

Tech Stack:

• Node.js, JavaScript, SQL (essential)

• Experience with RabbitMQ/Kafka and MongoDB (desirable)
