A well-established investment and asset management organisation is looking for a Platform Engineer to undertake a large-scale data transformation, building out a new cloud-native data platform to support decision-making across the business.
The firm is part-way through the development of a greenfield cloud data warehouse on Azure and Snowflake. The project has strong executive sponsorship and is being delivered in partnership with a specialist data architect. As the work progresses into its next phase, the business is hiring a Platform Engineer to join the build effort, with a particular focus on infrastructure, automation and pipeline orchestration.
This Platform Engineer will sit within the central finance and planning function and work closely with senior stakeholders, including programme sponsors and business leads.
Key responsibilities - Platform Engineer
-
Support the build and enhancement of a cloud-based data platform using Snowflake on Azure, working within an established technical framework.
-
Develop infrastructure components and manage deployment through infrastructure-as-code practices.
-
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the data platform design supports evolving business needs in a scalable and maintainable way.
-
Implement and maintain data pipelines, validation logic, and quality assurance processes.
-
Contribute to platform documentation and technical standards.
-
There is potential for future responsibility in mentoring or overseeing junior team members.
Required experience
-
Hands-on experience working with Snowflake, including schema development and data pipeline integration.
-
Familiarity with Azure services, including resource provisioning and identity setup.
-
Experience using Terraform for infrastructure deployment (ideally with cloud data services).
-
Strong working knowledge of Python, SQL, Git, and general data engineering best practices.
Additional desirable skills
-
Familiarity with CI/CD tooling, particularly Azure DevOps (or equivalents).
-
Exposure to workflow automation platforms.
-
Prior experience on early-stage or greenfield data platform projects.
-
Team leadership or mentoring exposure.
This is an opportunity to work on a strategically important programme with significant scope for technical input and ownership. The role offers exposure to cloud architecture, data engineering, and automation within a small but growing team.
