THE COMPANY

A UK-based fintech lender building an innovative consumer lending product focused on flexibility and affordability. The business is customer-first, using income and affordability data to make fairer lending decisions beyond traditional credit scores. With a proven model in place and strong growth plans, they offer a unique opportunity to join at an early but established stage.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will take ownership of credit risk and decisioning models, working across the full lifecycle from development through to deployment. This is a highly hands-on role with significant influence on how data drives commercial lending decisions.

Specifically, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Building and optimising credit risk models, including scorecards and machine learning approaches
  • Deploying models into production and monitoring performance over time
  • Developing data pipelines and integrating multiple data sources into decisioning frameworks
  • Working closely with stakeholders to ensure models directly influence lending strategy and outcomes

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong experience developing credit risk models, including scorecards and ML models
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, modelling, and data manipulation
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
  • Understanding of model deployment and production environments
  • Ability to translate technical work into commercial lending and commercial insights
  • Familiarity with financial services data such as bureau, Open Banking or affordability data
