Senior Insight Analyst Location: Rochdale / Greater Manchester - Hybrid (1-2 days in office)Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + benefits Start Date: ASAP
The Company A major UK organisation operating at the intersection of public sector, utilities, and financial services, delivering data-driven solutions that support local communities. The business manages large volumes of operational and customer data and is investing heavily in analytics to improve insight, performance, and decision-making. You'll join a small but growing analytics function where data storytelling and commercial understanding are highly valued.
The Role This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced Insight Analyst who wants to move beyond pure reporting into a more strategic, storytelling-focused role. The successful candidate will translate complex operational data into actionable insights that inform senior leadership decisions, drive profitability, and enhance client outcomes.
You'll report to a senior leader within the business while collaborating closely with the existing reporting team. The role offers scope to shape how data is used, automate processes, and demonstrate the value of insight in a business with significant growth potential.
Key Responsibilities

Use SQL to extract, analyse, and interpret large, complex datasets across multiple operational systems.

Develop engaging Power BI dashboards and visualisations that communicate key trends and performance drivers.

Turn financial and operational reports into actionable narratives that support business planning.

Partner with stakeholders to diagnose performance issues, identify improvement opportunities, and propose data-led solutions.

Support the wider analytics team in building a centralised data framework and improving data literacy across management.

Present insights clearly to senior stakeholders, helping bridge the gap between data and strategy.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
-
Strong SQL skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret large datasets.

Experience developing Power BI (or equivalent) dashboards and reports.

Proven track record of producing actionable insights rather than purely descriptive reporting.

Excellent communication and data-storytelling ability.

Comfortable engaging directly with senior stakeholders and presenting complex findings.

Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and identify opportunities for impact.
Desirable:

Background in operational, customer, or financial data analytics.

Previous experience working with government, utilities, or field-services data.

Exposure to data governance or automation initiatives.

Understanding of business performance metrics and profitability modelling.
Interview Process

Technical SQL exercise (30 minutes).

First interview (45 minutes) with the Hiring Manager and Analytics Lead.

Final interview (30 minutes) with Senior Leadership to discuss approach and impact.
