This is a rare opportunity to join a fast growing, VC backed digital marketplace at a pivotal stage of scale. You will work in a lean, high performing engineering team where modern AI assisted development is core to how software is built, not an experiment on the side.

THE COMPANY

They are a high growth, two-sided online marketplace operating within the construction and building materials sector.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Ruby Developer, you will own the delivery of full stack features in Ruby on Rails, using AI assisted development as your primary workflow and taking responsibility for quality from backend logic through to frontend release.

Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following:

• Deliver full stack features using Ruby on Rails, from backend logic through to frontend delivery.
• Build and maintain frontend functionality using vanilla JavaScript, keeping solutions simple.
• Use agentic AI tools such as Claude or Codex as a core part of your development workflow.
• Act as the human in the loop, reviewing, testing, and owning the quality of AI generated code.
• Contribute to technical direction and architectural decisions within a small senior team.
• Work closely with the wider business, shaping what is built as well as how it is built.
• Operate comfortably in an environment with ambiguity and minimal process overhead.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful Senior Ruby Developer will have the following skills and experience:

• Strong commercial experience building production grade applications in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Full stack capability - frontend delivery without reliance on modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Confidence using AI assisted development tools as a primary way of working.
• Proven ability to own features end to end and take responsibility for code quality.

• Salary between £60,000 - £75,000 - depending on experience.
