THE ROLE

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining scalable systems and services that underpin the company's technology strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and delivering backend software solutions aligned with the engineering roadmap
• Supporting solution design, infrastructure setup, testing, and maintenance
• Ensuring services remain robust, secure, and up-to-date with user feedback and evolving requirements
• Building new features and optimising existing systems for performance and scalability
• Upholding engineering best practices across cost efficiency, compliance, and quality
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong proficiency in Python, with scalable, maintainable, test-driven development (TDD)
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining systems on GCP or AWS
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and Docker
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs (Django/DRF or FastAPI)
• Strong knowledge of secure software development and engineering best practices

Highly desirable skills:

• Experience with Generative AI / LLMs
• Knowledge of different database types (SQL, NoSQL, graph, document)
• Infrastructure automation (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK)
• Exposure to front-end technologies (TypeScript, Vue.js or React) for effective collaboration with frontend teams
• Cloud platform certifications
