Technical Business Analyst / Data Technician

I'm working with a leading travel company that's currently building out a new data capability as part of a strategic transformation initiative. As part of this, they're looking to bring on a Technical Business Analyst / Data Technician to join their newly formed commercial data team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of business and data-translating operational needs into robust, user-friendly data solutions.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and data engineers-gathering, interpreting, and converting data requirements into deliverables.
• Designing and building Power BI dashboards to help users self-serve answers to common data questions.
• Writing advanced SQL queries to extract and manipulate data across complex systems.
• Supporting ongoing data governance and maintaining clear documentation of datasets.
• Helping identify automation opportunities and creating efficient reporting solutions.

What We're Looking For:

• Strong experience in a business/data analyst role.
• Proficiency in SQL-comfortable writing complex and efficient queries.
• Hands-on expertise with Power BI (or similar BI tool).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with both technical teams and business users.
• A self-starter who is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering value.

Nice to Have:

• Some experience in Python (e.g., pandas, seaborn, matplotlib).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Previous exposure to transport/rail industry data or commercial systems.
