Overview

We’re hiring a Senior Research Scientist to help define and uphold the analytical standards used to evaluate high‐stakes AI systems. This role sits at the intersection of fairness evaluation, rigorous statistical analysis, and applied understanding of hiring and selection processes.

You’ll work closely with senior technical leadership, founders, and product teams across hands‐on analysis, methodological design, and longer‐term strategic thinking. As an early senior research hire, you’ll have significant influence over both our analytical approach and how the function

evolves as we scale.

What you’ll do

  • Define and maintain robust evaluation methodologies, including statistical tests, fairness metrics, sampling strategies, and validation frameworks.
  • Translate regulatory guidance and emerging standards into clear, defensible audit methodologies.
  • Design datasets, test frameworks, and workflows that enable consistent, high‐quality AI evaluations.
  • Establish principles for interpreting results, managing uncertainty, and setting evidence thresholds.
  • Support high‐stakes customer and stakeholder discussions with strong technical judgement.
  • Contribute to external-facing materials, including documentation, blogs, and industry reports, to build credibility and trust.

What you should bring

  • 4+ years’ experience in a senior research, data science, or applied science role.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following:
  • Responsible AI evaluation in production with strong probabilistic reasoning.
  • Evaluation data engineering, including synthetic or curated dataset design under privacy and PII constraints.
  • Nice to have: HR analytics or I‐O psychology experience (e.g. adverse impact, selection validity, defensible evaluation).
  • Strong Python skills for statistical analysis and reproducible research workflows.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, high‐judgement problem spaces.
  • Clear, responsible communication of complex ideas to mixed technical and non‐technical audiences.
  • A collaborative, high‐agency mindset and motivation to work on problems with real‐world impact.

What’s on offer

  • 33 days’ holiday (including bank holidays)
  • Hybrid working (typically 3 days/week in a London office)
  • Annual learning and development budget
  • A senior, high‐impact role shaping how AI assurance is done as the field matures
