The Role
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead the delivery of high-value analytics and machine learning projects, working closely with stakeholders across the business.
Responsibilities include:
• Developing and deploying predictive models to support underwriting, claims, pricing and customer-focused initiatives
• Applying machine learning and statistical techniques to solve complex business challenges
• Leading end-to-end Data Science projects from problem definition through to deployment and monitoring
• Partnering with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making
• Presenting insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Supporting best practice across modelling, experimentation and model governance
• Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the growth of the wider Data Science function
Your Skills & Experience
• Strong commercial Data Science experience within insurance or broader financial services is essential
• Experience building predictive models and machine learning solutions that deliver measurable business value
• Advanced Python skills for machine learning, statistical modelling and data analysis
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large and complex datasets
• Understanding of insurance domains such as pricing, claims, underwriting, fraud, risk or customer analytics
• Experience engaging with stakeholders and translating business challenges into analytical solutions
• Exposure to cloud-based data environments and deploying models into production is beneficial
• Previous experience mentoring colleagues or leading projects would be advantageous, but applicants do not need to have held a Senior Data Scientist title previously
