Financial Controller
Harper May is working with a high-growth SaaS business headquartered in central London that has built a strong reputation in its category over the past five years. The company sells into mid-market and enterprise customers across the UK and Europe, has scaled to a multi-million pound recurring revenue base, and is preparing for the next stage on the back of a recent Series B round. With the finance function moving from start-up mode to a more structured operating rhythm, the business is now appointing a Financial Controller to take ownership of reporting, controls, and the day-to-day running of the team.
The Role Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will own the monthly close, statutory reporting, and the financial controls framework across the group. The role partners closely with engineering, commercial, and people functions, balancing hands-on accounting with process improvement and team development. It is a broad remit with clear ownership and direct exposure to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close and the production of timely, accurate management accounts
- Lead the year-end audit and statutory financial statements across all entities
- Manage VAT, corporation tax, and other compliance filings (UK and overseas where relevant)
- Strengthen the controls environment, balance sheet integrity, and reconciliation discipline
- Own treasury operations including cash forecasting and banking relationships
- Develop the wider finance team and improve close-cycle automation
- Partner with FP&A on month-end commentary and reporting accuracy
What we are looking for
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 4+ years post-qualification experience
- Prior Financial Controller experience within a SaaS or technology business
- Strong technical accounting foundation (FRS 102 / IFRS) and audit-side credibility
- Comfortable in a fast-changing, growth environment without compromising rigour
- People manager with the appetite to develop a small team
