A high‐growth fintech scale-up within the global payments space is seeking an Interim Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to provide technical leadership during a critical period of transformation. The business is building modern infrastructure for cross‐border money movement and requires an experienced, hands-on technology leader to stabilise, assess, and elevate the current engineering environment.

This is a stealth requirement and will suit a senior technology leader capable of stepping in quickly, identifying gaps, and setting the organisation on the right long‐term trajectory.

The Opportunity

As Interim CTO, you will:

• Lead and mentor a growing engineering team, providing clear technical direction.
• Assess current architecture, development practices, and platform performance.
• Drive improvements across reliability, scalability, and security.
• Guide the business through key decisions relating to infrastructure, payments integration, and product roadmap.
• Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to shape long-term technical strategy.
• Ensure engineering and product processes are aligned with best practices in modern fintech.
• Provide stability and leadership during a period of organisational change.

Essential Experience

• Proven track record as a CTO, Interim CTO, or Senior Engineering Leader within payments, fintech, or financial infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of global payments, money movement, or financial APIs.
• Strong architectural expertise across modern cloud environments.
• Experience scaling high-availability platforms and leading engineering transformation.
• Demonstrated ability to step into fast-paced, evolving environments and execute effectively.
• Comfortable being hands-on when required while also operating at a strategic level.

• Hybrid: 1 day per week in London office
