About

Join a tech-forward financial services firm combining 400+ years of heritage with bold investments in modern technology. With a strong in-house development culture and agile delivery mindset, the business is pushing boundaries in AI, machine learning, and high-performance, low-latency trading infrastructure.

The 300-person technology team operates in a Scrumban framework and covers Cloud, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and more. In this Kubernetes-focused role, you'll help build and scale a bare-metal HPC platform for a broad spectrum of use cases from latency-sensitive trading to big data and analytics with the opportunity to expand into cloud where appropriate.

What youll do:

  • Design and manage highly available Kubernetes clusters across multiple datacentres
  • Collaborate with Linux, infrastructure, and SOC/CERT teams to secure and optimise bare-metal environments
  • Support mission-critical workloads including low-latency trading systems, leveraging tools like Calico, OPA/Gatekeeper, and Kyverno for policy enforcement and security
  • Replace legacy networking infrastructure with a Kubernetes-first architecture, treating pods as first-class citizens in a highly available, BGP-based leaf/spine fabric
  • Lead systems administration on Ubuntu and RHEL systems, tuning OS configurations for performance, observability, and compliance
  • Develop services like DNS-based discovery and egress gateways for smart routing of financial traffic
  • Automate infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, Git, and CI/CD tooling

What were looking for:

  • Deep Linux/UNIX experience (Ubuntu & RHEL)
  • Kubernetes administration expertise, ideally on bare-metal
  • Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, VRF)
  • Scripting and IaC experience (Python, Bash, Helm, Terraform)
  • Experience working in regulated environments with PAM, policy-as-code, and strong security posture

If you're passionate about building high-impact infrastructure in a modern, agile setting - without the red tape - this is an opportunity to truly shape the future of tech in finance.
