Market Data Development Team Lead - Oil Trading / Data Management Systems

We're seeking an experienced Market Data Development Team Lead to head up a talented group of developers responsible for delivering reliable, accurate, and high-performance market data solutions. This is a key leadership role supporting the Oil Trading Division within a global commodities business, ensuring the robustness of market data consumption, transformation, and distribution.
Reporting to the Head of Market Data, you'll lead the development of the firm's Data Management System (DMS) - a critical platform supporting trading, risk, and analytics teams. You'll guide your team through complex curve development, standardise data integration processes, and ensure market data accuracy across multiple systems and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of market data developers, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Own end-to-end delivery of market data solutions - from requirements gathering to build, testing, and deployment.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on commodities and oil market data, curves, and pricing structures.
- Design, enhance, and maintain data parsers and ETL/ELT workflows to ensure standardised, testable, and scalable data delivery.
- Develop and manage complex oil market curves to support pricing and risk management.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, exchanges, PRAs, and data vendors to ensure seamless data flow and integration.
- Provide second-line support for daily data parsing, computation, and delivery processes.
- Champion coding standards, automation, and best practices in an Agile data development environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience leading market data or data engineering teams within commodities or financial trading environments.
- Deep understanding of market data onboarding, processing, and distribution from multiple data sources (files, APIs, web scraping).
- Strong background in ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and data management best practices.
- Proficiency with data processing frameworks, automation, and deployment workflows.
- Hands-on experience in developing data services and applications that automate business processes.
- Familiarity with Zema, containerisation (Docker), and continuous deployment tools is highly advantageous.
