Principal Product Manager

🚀 Principal Product Manager – Platform / Technical Product

Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days on‐site)

Salary: £110,000 – £150,000 + 10% bonus

I’m recruiting on behalf of a fast‐growing, product‐led technology company building a sophisticated platform that combines hardware, software, and automation to power mission‐critical environments in life sciences and research.

This is a senior, hands‐on Product leadership role for someone who thrives in complexity, takes real ownership, and consistently turns ambiguous, technical problem spaces into shipped, high‐impact product outcomes.

The role

As Principal Product Manager, you’ll play a defining role in shaping the company’s core platform and execution. You’ll lead some of the most technically and strategically important areas of the product, including workflow orchestration, scheduling, and device integration.

Your remit will be to turn powerful but complex capabilities into cohesive, customer‐ready solutions, while influencing engineering, commercial, and scientific stakeholders at a senior level.

This is a role for a Product Manager who is equally comfortable with strategy, deep technical domains, and day‐to‐day execution.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning the full end‐to‐end lifecycle of core platform capabilities, from vision and discovery through delivery, adoption, and iteration

• Defining product direction for a flexible, extensible platform that balances configurability, usability, and reliability

• Working closely with engineering, design, science, and commercial teams to create alignment across complex initiatives

• Leading in high‐ambiguity spaces, making sound decisions with incomplete information and adapting as new insights emerge

• Partnering deeply with engineering on technically complex areas such as workflow orchestration, optimisation, and device connectivity

• Operating with pace and a strong bias to action, without sacrificing quality

• Taking accountability for outcomes, not just outputs, ensuring work delivers real customer value

• Mentoring and supporting other Product Managers, modelling strong ownership and execution

What they’re looking for

• Significant experience as a Product Manager, including senior ownership of complex or platform products

• Proven ability to work cross‐functionally and build trust across engineering, design, and commercial teams

• A strong track record operating in high‐ambiguity, fast‐moving environments

• An entrepreneurial mindset, ideally from startups, scale‐ups, or building new product areas from scratch

• Demonstrated ownership of large, complex problem spaces end‐to‐end

• Strong technical fluency, ideally with exposure to workflow scheduling, optimisation, or constraint‐based systems

• Experience with open systems, SDKs, APIs, or data‐centric architectures is a strong advantage

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including influencing at senior leadership level

Why this role stands out

• True principal‐level ownership of a core platform

• Deeply technical product challenges (this is not surface‐level feature delivery)

• Strong alignment between product and engineering

• Meaningful, real‐world impact

• High‐trust culture with autonomy and accountability

• Clear scope to influence both product direction and how the organisation builds

If you’re a senior or principal‐level Product Manager who enjoys complex systems, ambiguous problem spaces, and genuine ownership, I’d be happy to have a confidential conversation.
