Senior Cloud Automation Engineer

Location: Manchester (Mainly Remote – 1-2 Days a month)

Salary: up to £75,000 + Strong Benefits

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to play a key role in transforming a large-scale, mission-critical technology environment through modern automation.

This is a high-impact, strategic role where you’ll lead the design and delivery of automation solutions across cloud-first and hybrid infrastructure, driving efficiency, scalability, and resilience across the organisation.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, shape automation strategy, and act as a subject matter expert across platforms, tooling, and best practices.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and delivering automation strategies with a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform and Bicep
  • Leading automation across Azure and on-prem environments
  • Developing scripts and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bicep and ARM
  • Driving best practices in security, compliance, and governance automation
  • Acting as the go-to expert for cloud automation and platform optimisation
  • Collaborating across engineering, DevOps, and leadership teams
  • Mentoring others and contributing to a strong engineering culture

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience delivering automation in complex hybrid cloud environments
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and Infrastructure as Code (Bicep / ARM)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps tooling, and scripting
  • Experience working with APIs and system integrations
  • Solid understanding of security, compliance, and enterprise IT environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Microsoft 365 automation experience
  • Exposure to AI-driven automation / Copilot / Azure AI
  • Relevant certifications (Azure / DevOps)
