Job Title: Lead Security Architect

Location: Manchester / remote

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 + Bonus + car allowance

Purpose

The Lead Security Architect is a key member of the CISO team, responsible for designing and reviewing system architectures, developing a cohesive security strategy, supporting transformation initiatives, and ensuring the organisation's security posture effectively mitigates risks. They will drive inclusion, continuous improvement, and high performance across teams.

Core Accountabilities

  • Lead by example and uphold organisational behaviours.
  • Deliver projects from development through deployment, ensuring governance and quality.
  • Gather feedback to drive continuous improvement of systems, processes, and people.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Inspire and manage teams, driving engagement, performance, and well-being.

Job-Specific Accountabilities

  • Maintain an effective Security Architecture that minimises risk.
  • Design and review complex system architectures, defining and challenging principles.
  • Align security designs with technology architecture and business goals.
  • Collaborate across strategy, risk, policy, and technology teams to guide decision-making.
  • Support transformation initiatives and manage proof of concept exercises.
  • Ensure security integration in software development and review technical measures regularly.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to information assets.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5–10 years in IT with focus on cybersecurity, including technical leadership.
  • Experience with modern digital architectures such as cloud, data, API, digital, and mobile
  • Knowledge of security domains including endpoint, network, data, hybrid cloud security, and zero trust strategies
  • Experience in leading threat modelling sessions
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Cybersecurity certifications (GIAC, CISSP, cloud security) desirable.
